Nā Kālai Waʻa is a non-profit 501C-3. The non-profit nature makes us reliant on donations and volunteer time. Our non-profit status also keeps us grounded in our grassroots nature, making us accountable first and foremost to the village that supports us. Mahalo to each and every one of our generous DONORS, supporters and VOLUNTEERS. You are all integral parts to our ‘OHANA (family).
There are several ways that we engage our community to help support our organization:
General maintenance of maritime vessels is an expensive and time-consuming lifestyle. We humbly ask our community for donations of material goods to help us offset some of our cost. Donated materials in the past have been as large as new sails and sets of ʻiako (outrigger boom) and as humble as a pile of recycled construction materials. For a list of goods and materials that could be used by Nā Kālai Waʻa and our programs, please see the link in our menu to the left.
Non-profits rely heavily on donated funds, either through community and personal contributions or through community and government grants. If you are interested in donating contributions to Nā Kālai Waʻa, you may do so by contacting our organization directly or through our donate button to the left hand side of this page.
All contributions to Nā Kālai Waʻa, a non-profit 501C-3 organization, are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Nā Kālai Waʻa survives off on the work and energy put in by our volunteers. In fact, volunteers comprise 90% of our organization. Volunteers make up our crews, our drydock workers, our board members, and our ʻohana. If you would like to volunteer your time or expertise, please CONTACT us. We would love to add you to our email list so that we can keep you notified of future opportunities to volunteer with us.
